Ciudad Juárez.- The food support program for the elderly and disabled made an investment of nine million 280 thousand pesos, destined for the delivery of four thousand 640 food packages here on the border, reported Sergio Acosta, Undersecretary of Human Development and Common Good.
“This support ended after an eight-month distribution period; this state effort sought to assist vulnerable populations and provide essential relief,” the state official said.
The distribution of food parcels began in March and continued until September, covering several localities in the state in order to ensure that the aid reached those who needed it most.
The last distribution will take place in Ciudad Juárez from September 19 to 24. During these days, the last part of the 4,640 food packages will be delivered, benefiting 580 elderly people and 580 people with disabilities.
The total cost of the program in the state reached 21 million 934 thousand 800 pesos, distributed in 12 million 117 thousand 600 pesos for senior citizens and nine million 817 thousand 200 pesos for people with disabilities.
This budget allowed for the delivery of a total of 28,306 food parcels throughout the state, each with an average value of 1,200 pesos, designed to cover the food needs of a family for approximately two weeks.
The distribution strategy included calls at strategic points to facilitate access for beneficiaries, not only in central areas, but also in more remote areas.
In Ciudad Juárez, call centers were established at kilometer 20, in the Riberas de Bravo community center and in Central Park, to ensure coverage of the most needy areas.
The program also implemented a socioeconomic study to identify beneficiaries based on their economic situation and geographic location, the official said.
The aim is to continue improving the efficiency of the delivery of support and ensure that it reaches the people most in need.
For next year, it is planned to increase the number of call zones and improve coverage in additional areas such as Kilómetros, Plutarco Elías Calles, Caballerizas, Fronteriza Alta and Baja and Rancho Anapra.
Organizers stressed the importance of media collaboration in disseminating information about these programs and reaching those who may need assistance.
“The food support program impacted the neediest communities in the state of Chihuahua, with a total investment of 21 million 934 thousand 800 pesos and the delivery of 28 thousand 306 food packages. The state administration remains committed to improving distribution and identifying new areas of need for future deliveries,” concluded the state official.
