One of the little girls hospitalized at Santobono in Naples woke up after being seriously injured following the collapse of the Scampia balcony
The tragic collapse of the balcony inside the Vela Celeste in Scampia, in addition to the dramatic epilogue linked to the death of three people, it had also caused the serious injury of some little girls. Urgently transferred to the Santobono hospital in Naples, the conditions in which some of them were found to be very serious.
The current conditions of the two girls injured following the collapse of Scampia
Fortunately, it is news from a few hours ago awakening of one of the two little girls injured by the collapse of the balcony in Scampia: the one, that is, who from the beginning had raised the most concerns due to the serious injuries she had sustained. The little girl, just 4 years old, although she is currently still hospitalized in Pediatric Intensive Care, she is finally awake and breathing spontaneously. After ten long days she was finally taken off the ventilator.
The daily bulletin communicated by Santobono reports the following: “comforting clinical and instrumental findings, the case still requires clinical and instrumental monitoring, the prognosis remains reserved”.
As regards the second 7-year-old girl who was also seriously injured in the collapse, we learn that:
“The general conditions are characterized by a gradual overall improvement. The patient was transferred to the Neurosurgery Unit for further treatment. The reserved prognosis has been lifted.”
The conditions of the other three girls hospitalized in orthopedics
The collapse of the balcony inside the Vela Celeste in Scampia had also caused the injuries of three other girls, currently hospitalised in the ward Orthopedics at Santobono.
The 9-year-old girl underwent surgery for a fractured humerus and passed the post-operative phase without problems. The bulletin regarding her states the following: “the general conditions appear good and stable enough to allow for the hypothesis of discharge”.
As for the 10-year-old girl, who underwent surgery for a multi-fragmentary fracture of the femur, her report shows that: “he continues a post-operative orthopedic course that requires clinical instrumental monitoring and medical therapy. He is awaiting maxillofacial surgery”.
Finally, for the 2-year-old girl who underwent surgery for a distal humerus fracture, the bulletin reports that: “he has completed the post-operative period and is in good and stable general conditions, such that he can be discharged”.
The conditions of the two patients admitted to emergency surgery
The two little patients hospitalized in the ward of emergency surgery they are also improving.
For the 2-year-old girl, Santobono states that: “She eats regularly. She remains hospitalized in
completion of instrumental investigations”while for the little girl of 4: “He is eating, the lesion to his spleen is stable, he remains under strict clinical monitoring.”
