The Saudi Ministry of Interior launched the “Makkah Route” initiative, which aims to complete the procedures for pilgrims from their countries easily and smoothly in five countries before their arrival in the Kingdom to perform the Hajj rituals.
The initiative is part of the “Guests of Rahman Service Program”, one of the programs of the Saudi Vision 2030.
The official Saudi Press Agency (SPA) said that pilgrims in Morocco, Pakistan, Malaysia, Indonesia and Bangladesh will be able to complete all their procedures in their countries, “starting with issuing the visa electronically and taking the vital characteristics, and passing through the completion of passport procedures at the airport of the country of departure after verifying the availability of health requirements, in addition to the Coding and sorting of baggage according to transportation and housing arrangements in the Kingdom.
Upon their arrival, the pilgrims move directly to buses to take them to their places of residence in Makkah and Madinah, with designated paths, while the service authorities take charge of delivering their luggage to their homes.
The Hajj this year will take place next July.
The performance of Hajj last year 2021 was limited to residents inside Saudi Arabia, due to measures to combat the emerging corona virus.
And Saudi Arabia allowed the participation of 60,000 from inside the Kingdom to prevent the outbreak of Corona.
The year 2020 also witnessed an exceptional Hajj season, as the number of pilgrims was limited to about 10 thousand from inside Saudi Arabia due to the precautionary measures imposed by the Corona pandemic.
The Minister of Hajj and Umrah, Dr. Tawfiq Al-Rabiah, said, on Thursday, that the ministry is working to ensure the health of pilgrims during this year, stressing that digital technologies will help organize the Hajj season perfectly, and that the Hajj smart card will be implemented this year.
