During its 213th session held in Geneva, Switzerland, the Governing Council of the Inter-Parliamentary Union elected the Vice-Chairman of the Parliamentary Division Group of the Union’s Federal National Council, Sarah Muhammad Falaknaz, as a member of the Union’s Middle East Issues Committee.
With this membership, the UAE Parliamentary Division gained a new gain in addition to its membership in the Union, including the Union’s Executive Committee representing the Arab Geopolitical Group, and membership in the Union’s permanent committees, which are: the International Peace and Security Committee, the United Nations Affairs Committee, the Sustainable Development Committee, and the Democracy and Human Rights Committee. The Office of the Youth Parliamentarians Forum, the Women Parliamentarians Forum and the Gender Partnership Group.
The Middle East Issues Committee of the Inter-Parliamentary Union is specialized in promoting dialogue and understanding between parliaments in the region, discussing conflicts in the Middle East region and peaceful solutions to conflicts, organizing meetings and conferences, and developing recommendations and decisions that contribute to supporting peace and security in the Middle East.
