The President of the Government, Pedro Sánchez, plans to travel to Paris on Monday to participate in the informal summit of European leaders called of emergency by the president of France, Emmanuel Macron, to elaborate a “common response” regarding the war in Ukraine.
The French president has taken this step after the conversations of the president of the United States, Donald Trump, with his Russian counterpart, Vladimir Putin, to end the military offensive in Ukraine, of which the next day 24 will be three years.
As TVE has advanced, and confirmed the Moncloa Palace, Sánchez will participate in the meeting organized by the Eliseo Palace with the aim of joining a collective response of the main European powers, as claimed by the president of Ukraine, Volodimir Zelensky.
The appointment will take place after the Munich Security Conference held during the last three days, where the United States vice president JD Vance, conducted a very critical intervention with Europe that reaped criticism from Germany and Spain.
Regarding Ukraine, the Spanish position has remained in defense of kyiv’s territorial integrity and its participation in any negotiation process. The Minister of Foreign Affairs, European Union and Cooperation, José Manuel Albares, defended yesterday the need for Europe to be present “at all times” in any peace negotiation on Ukraine and rejected the possibility that the Russian invasion has “prize.”
«This war of Russian aggression must end with a fair peace and lasting peace. Europe has to be at all times around the negotiating table, and we want to do it together with the United States, as we have been together during these three long years of Russian aggression to Ukraine, ”said Albares from Munich.
