Sainz always protagonist
Fresh from winning the Australian GP, Carlos Sainz The Suzuka weekend also seems to have started off on the right note. The Spaniard recorded the third best time in FP1, being preceded only by the two Red Bulls of Max Verstappen and Sergio Perez. In the afternoon, however, the Ferrari standard bearer, like almost all of his colleagues, practically never took to the track due to the bad weather that hit the Japanese track. An inconvenience which, however, does not take away the confidence of the #55 in view of tomorrow's qualifying and especially Sunday's GP, also given the good race pace shown by Ferrari in the morning.
The rain ruined the plans
“It wasn't an ideal Friday as we lost the entire second session due to rain – said Sainz – but in the morning one I felt quite comfortable in the car. I couldn't wait to get back on track to continue the set-up work; but unfortunately, in the afternoon the asphalt was too wet for intermediate tyres and in the last few minutes too wet for the slicks, so we remained in the garage except for a few laps at the end. It's a shame, but we are all in the same situation and in any case we will still have time in tomorrow's free practice to complete our preparations for qualifying“, concluded the Madrilenian.
