At least 17 people died and around 60 were injured in Chernigov as a result of a Russian attack carried out in broad daylight with three Iskander missiles against this city in northern Ukraine, according to the latest report released by local authorities.
The impact of the missiles caused damage to at least 16 houses, said the head of the city's Military Administration, Oleksandr Lomako.
Chernigov is located near the border with Belarus and had around 300,000 inhabitants before the war.
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky described this Russian attack as “terrorist” and called on his Western partners to send more air defense systems so that Ukraine can protect its population from attacks like this.
“This would not happen if Ukraine received sufficient means of anti-aircraft defense, and also if the world had enough determination to face Russian terror,” declared Zelensky on his social networks.
