Gjert Ingebrigtsen allegedly hit his child with a wet towel.
The Norwegians running brothers Henrik, Philip and Jakob Ingebrigtsen have not wanted to comment on the latest twist in the trial involving their family.
The Norwegian VG reported on Monday that the runners' father Gjert Ingebrigtsen accused of assaulting a family member. According to VG's information, it would be that Ingebrigtsen hit her child with a wet towel in January 2022.
None of the three runners were the target of the hit in question. Gjert Ingebrigtsen has seven children. He himself has denied the abuse.
The Norwegian broadcaster NRK reached out to the runners through their manager Espen Skoland.
“They don't want to comment on the matter. It's a private family matter,” Skoland told NRK.
“The brothers have asked to be allowed to focus on sports in peace. They thank the press for honoring their wish.”
Gjert Inbebrigtsen coached his sons until a break-up at the beginning of 2022 ended the collaboration. According to VG, this is exactly the case that was reported on Monday. The brothers are not on speaking terms with their father.
Since then, Gjert Ingebrigtsen has coached Narve Gilje Nordåsia.
Last summer, at the World Championships in Budapest, Gjert Ingebritsen had to live in a different hotel than the rest of the Norwegian team, and he did not receive accreditation for the Games, which would have allowed him to move around the competition stadium, for example. Nordås ran for bronze in the 1,500 meters at the World Championships.
Gjert Ingebrigtsen broke his silence on social media on Tuesday morning. However, he did not comment on the allegations associated with him.
Gjert Ingebrigtsen posted a photo on his Instagram account that contained a Swedish magazine Aftonbladet according to the snippet from the US artist Andra Day from the song Rise Up.
Andra Day, real name Cassandra Monique Batie, told Time– magazine that he made the song as a strength song for himself after the challenges of his personal life and his friend's cancer diagnosis. Rise Up was released in August 2015.
