MOSCOW (Reuters) – The Russian Defense Ministry said on Wednesday that 498 Russian soldiers had been killed in Ukraine and another 1,597 were wounded since the start of Moscow’s military operation in the neighboring country, Russian news agency RIA reported.
This was the first time Moscow had disclosed its casualties in the clash.
The ministry also said that more than 2,870 Ukrainian soldiers and “nationalists” had been killed, and that about 3,700 were wounded, according to another news agency, Interfax.
