The number of Russian soldiers killed in the Ukraine war continues to rise. In addition, a drone attack is said to have dealt Putin’s armed forces a new blow.
Kiev – Devastating ATACMS attack, bitter fighter jet debacle and the Fear of drone attacks on the Crimean bridge are currently shaping the picture in the Ukraine war. Added to this is the faltering Kharkiv offensive, which could also be a reason for the confusion surrounding a possible ceasefire in Ukraine. However, developments on the Ukraine front remain unclear in many places. In particular, Russia’s losses in the war of aggression, which violates international law, are a constant subject of speculation.
Bitter losses for Putin in Ukraine war: Russia crosses new milestone
According to the Ukrainian General Staff, Russia’s losses have now exceeded a gruesome milestone in the Ukraine war. According to the report, the number of dead or injured soldiers since the beginning of the war in Ukraine is said to have totaled 500,080. Of these, a further 1,140 losses are said to have occurred in the past 24 hours alone. The figures cannot be independently confirmed, as the Kremlin has also refrained from providing any information on official figures on killed or injured soldiers since the end of 2022. According to a BBC investigation, Putin’s armed forces themselves are even accused of to cover up the true figures of Russia’s losses in the Ukraine war.
According to further information from the General Staff, 7,650 Russian tanks are said to have been destroyed during the war in Ukraine. In addition, 12,929 artillery systems and 1,082 multiple rocket launchers are said to be unusable. In addition, Putin’s armed forces are said to have lost 356 aircraft and one submarine so far.
Heavy losses for Russia: Ukrainian drone attack damages Putin’s early warning system
Vladimir Putin is currently suffering another serious loss. A Ukrainian drone attack is said to have damaged a radar in the Russian early warning system against incoming nuclear missiles. However, there is no official confirmation of the incident. Photos of damage to the facility near the city of Armavir in southern Russia have appeared in Russian and Ukrainian channels, the US Institute for War Studies (ISW) announced in its situation report on Friday (May 24). However, it is not possible to estimate how serious the damage is.
The former Russian ambassador to the NATODmitri Rogozin, spoke out about the incident on Saturday. On the social network X (formerly Twitter) he posted that the early warning system was “a key element of the military control of the strategic nuclear forces.” Rogozin is now a member of the Russian Federation Council and accused not only Ukraine, but above all the USA, of involvement.
Damage after Ukrainian drone attack: Russia’s ex-ambassador makes serious accusations against the USA
He accused the United States of planning the attack on the early warning system or at least knowing about it. He criticized the fact that such actions were bringing the world closer to the brink of nuclear war. The Kremlin or the Russian Defense Ministry have not yet made an official statement on the incident.
The Russian Voronezh-DM early warning radar near Armavir is reportedly capable of detecting attacking nuclear missiles at a distance of 6,000 kilometers. There is apparently a whole chain of such radar stations in Russia. The damaged system is apparently capable of monitoring the airspace above the Crimea and south-western Europe far out into the Atlantic.
