Before the soccer-Europe-League game between AS Rome, the club of Rio World Champion Mats Hummels, and Eintracht Frankfurt on Thursday (9 p.m.), Rome’s city administration takes strict security measures. 3500 entrepreneurs are expected, including 350 hooligans. The motto against violent fans is: zero tolerance. They are to be accompanied by the police from the airport to the stadium. The Corriere Dello Sport reports that around 1,000 police officers are to guard the area around the Stadio Olimpico and the sights in the city center. This is intended to avoid riots and damage in the old town. The sale of alcohol in bottles and doses was also prohibited.
The authorities want to prevent riots like that in March 2023 when supporters of Eintracht and Naples on the edge of the Champions League game in the city center had fought violent arguments with the police.
