After meeting with the Minister of Mines and Energy, Alexandre Silveira, the mayor of São Paulo, Ricardo Nunes (MDB), stated this Tuesday, 16, that the energy concessionaire Enel is in the process of expiring the concession and the contract must not be renewed. According to him, the rules must be set out in the decree that will be drawn up by the minister and published in two weeks.
“In the conversation, I made a point of asking: Minister, regarding the Enel issue, it is in the process of expiry, will there be a possibility of renewal? He said that companies that are in the process of expiry cannot renew. Now, how long does this take and whether it is possible within a period of time for her to get out of this process, I couldn’t say,” Nunes told journalists.
The mayor of SP said that, in addition to dealing with concession renewals, the decree must provide for the removal of purges to ensure a better assessment of the quality of services provided by companies.
“Today, Enel, which is this company that provides a very poor service in the city of São Paulo and in several locations, is within the parameters considered by Aneel (National Electric Energy Agency). They have been purging situations where a lack of energy is not considered in various situations,” he said.
