Tourism- and the restaurant industry interest group Mara criticizes the government’s decision to continue restaurant restrictions. According to Mara, the government has no legal basis to extend the restrictions on food restaurants because the Department of Health and Welfare, THL, has classified them as low-risk facilities as shops, barbers and hairdressers.

Restricting the operation of night restaurants, on the other hand, will result in part of the party being moved to private premises where no rules need to be followed. The government’s decision to extend the restrictions is therefore neither necessary nor proportionate, as required by the Constitution and the Communicable Diseases Act, Mara says.

At the same time, Mara calls on all citizens to take coronary vaccinations.

“Taking the vaccine is a social obligation, not just a private matter,” Mara says in a statement.
