The director wanted to get very close to the Resident Evil series.
The upcoming film Resident Evil Welcome to Raccoon City aims to be a “faithful adaptation” of the games, according to the writer and director Johannes Roberts. In a new video, Roberts illustrates all the ways the film will honor and respect the legacy of games.
And that comes down to very fine details, including the scene of the truck driver eating a burger in Resident Evil 2. The video was posted via Twitter and compares scenes from the film to those from the games.
“Welcome to Raccoon City is a very faithful adaptation of the Resident Evil games. This is where it all started. This is an origin story where we meet all the iconic characters from the games. Each frame has details of the game, from the burger the truck driver is eating to the actual truck design“says Roberts.”We built the mansion and the police station to the specifics of the game. This is a horror movie created with a love of gaming“. Below you can take a look at the video.
