Sporty, spacious, hybrid. The new Renault Arkana it was defined by the Losanga car manufacturer as the first model that realizes what was announced in the “Nouvelle Vague” strategy promoted by the company. We recently had the chance to test the Renault branded SUV in the hybrid variant E-Tech, which stands out for its low emissions and reduced consumption combined with great efficiency. The Arkana range can also count on two other engines: the first materializes in a TCe engine with powers of 140 and 160 HP, the second in a 12 volt micro-hybrid version.
Returning to the version subject of our test, the E-Tech technology that equips Arkana is the same that characterizes other models in the Renault range, such as Clio, Captur and the new Megane. It is a full hybrid engine, based on a revolutionary solution that has been the subject of over 150 patents and which can count on the skills of the Losanga brand in Formula 1, especially at the level of regeneration and energy recovery. The maximum power released by the hybrid powertrain mounted on Arkana E-Tech reaches 145 HP: thanks to this technology, the new sports SUV of the French brand can travel in 100% electric mode up to 80% of the time in the city. The efficiency of the new Arkana E-Tech however is also touchable on long distancesas we have seen in our journey that took us from Milan to Bologna and vice versa.
Aesthetically speaking, we are talking about a model that, as mentioned, transmits one feeling of great sportiness, thanks also to its remarkable ground clearance of 199 mm, the raised and athletic body belt and generous shoulders. The front and rear skis, as well as the wheel arch protectors, deserve a mention. The overview is completed by a sloping line of the roof and the glazed surface, which forms a dynamic and slender curve up to the tailgate, underlining the dynamism of this model. The interiors of the new Arkana stand out for their spaciousness and ergonomics thanks to the use of precious materials and the presence of many storage compartments, induction charging for smartphones and four USB sockets. There trunk capacity of this E-Tech version reaches 480 liters, 38 liters less than that of the other Arkana versions.
From a technological point of view, the cockpit of the new Arkana E-Tech is characterized by a 10 “color cluster associated with a 9.3” centrally positioned display. There are many services guaranteed by these technologies, but there are two that more than the others deserve a mention: let’s talk about Renault Connectwhich allows you to benefit from communication via smartphone, Apple Car Play and Android Auto, but also Google Search, TomTom Infotrafic and automatic Over The Air update, and Renault Multi-Sense, which allows you to customize the environment on board and choose the driving mode. Many state-of-the-art driving assistance devices offered as standard, gathered under the name Easy Drive. We close with the prices: the new Arkana E-Tech has a price list that starts at 32,850 euros for the Intens set-up, and goes up to 35,650 euros for the RS Line set-up.
