After having lifted the title in the Apertura 2020, Tigres closed again at the Universitario during the final of the Clausura 2021. But the rival was new. Commonly facing the Rayadas, now it was his turn, for the first time, to face Chivas. A game that left many expectations, since despite being an old acquaintance, it was a different and important scenario.
The first game of the series opened at Akron Stadium, home of the Sacred Herd. The most disputed of the two games, without a doubt. And as is common, with bad refereeing, a valid goal annulled included. Mayor, in an individual play, opened the scoring to put Tigres in front at minute 14. But it was until the second half, at 50, that Anette Vázquez put the tie after getting ahead of the Amazon defense and receiving a spectacular pass from Blanca Felix. At 88, there was a penalty in favor of Guadalajara, but Carolina Jaramillo’s shot hit the post. And when it seemed that the game ended in a draw, the Iron Lady appeared in the last seconds to push her head after a corner kick and two passes that allowed the ball to end in front of her.
The Volcano, which had not opened its doors to the public in its last final due to the pandemic, began to be decorated with the color of the people. And soon they were going to celebrate the first goal of the game, after a play that they did not give up until Ovalle found the door. And after five minutes, La Maga scored her double from Sierra’s pass and announced that the team was coming to give a show. And yes, after two minutes, Mayor entered with impressive speed to make it 3-0. But Chivas did not lower his arms and before the end of the first half, he scored his first goal of the night through Miriam García, who is now an Auriazul player.
At 7 minutes into the second half, Carolina Jaramillo pulled out the thorn of the first game with a tremendous goal against her former team. And although the nervousness was on the surface, with the promise of Chivas to seek to equalize, in a set piece, Blanca Solís flew through the air to score the fourth. And within a minute, Mayor, with a player already at the second post, drove the public crazy, who from that moment celebrated the title. Even so, those of the Flock scored the one of honor, although within seconds they were already putting the name of Tigres in the coveted trophy to become the first two-time champions of the tournament.
This Friday both teams will meet again during Day 13 of the Liga MX Femenil, at 9:05 pm. And Licha Cervantes and Katty Martínez will contest that scoring title that is very even.
