Mönchengladbach – During a drug raid, several hundred police officers searched 28 apartments and business premises on Wednesday morning, mainly in the Viersen district as well as in Mönchengladbach and Düsseldorf. Six men between the ages of 30 and 55 were arrested, said the police and public prosecutor in Mönchengladbach.
The police used violence to gain access to the objects. Explosives were also used. There was property damage, but no one was injured. Special forces and riot police as well as police dogs were involved. The target was therefore a group of criminals who are suspected of commercially cultivating and trading cannabis.
According to the police, “a large number” of detectives from Mönchengladbach, Neuss, Krefeld and Heinsberg were also involved in the large-scale operation. More information about the background and the customers of the accused should not be given at the moment, so as not to jeopardize the investigation. The six arrested are to be held in custody. dpa
