The President of Russia, Vladimir Putin, has promulgated the State Budget for the next triennium (2025-27), which allocates defense spending of 13.5 trillion rubles or 133,630 million dollars (126,844 million euros) for 2025, according to the decree published this Sunday on the official legal information portal.
That figure is a 24.4% higher than that allocated in this year’s Budget and aims to meet the needs of the Army in the military campaign in Ukraine.
This item is equivalent to 6.31% of the Gross Domestic Product (GDP) planned for next year, when in the current year the percentage is 6.7%.
The amount dedicated to defense and national security represents around 40% of the total spending of the Russian Budget and will exceed the money allocated jointly to education, health, economy and social policy.
Military spending will be slightly reduced in 2026 and 2027according to the Budget, approved last November by both chambers of the Russian Parliament
However, the figures included in the military budget for this year They also do not include games classified as secret and which are also intended to finance Russia’s military effort.
