Putin during a telephone conversation called on Macron and Scholz to influence the Ukrainian authorities
Russian President Vladimir Putin, during a telephone conversation with German Chancellor Olaf Scholz and French leader Emmanuel Macron, urged them to influence Kyiv. This was announced on the official site Kremlin.
The head of state called on Macron and Scholz to influence the Ukrainian authorities so that the criminal activities of the Kiev security forces, who violate the norms of international humanitarian law, were stopped.
Putin explained that the military in Ukraine carried out extrajudicial killings of dissenters, taking civilians hostage and using them as human shields. Kyiv also places heavy weapons near hospitals, schools, kindergartens and in residential areas.
During a previous conversation with German Chancellor Scholz, Putin listed Russia’s demands on Ukraine. The country needs a neutral non-nuclear status, mandatory demilitarization and denazification. Russia also expects the recognition of Crimea’s ownership and the sovereignty of the Donetsk and Luhansk People’s Republics within the administrative borders of the Donetsk and Luhansk regions, the head of state said.
Vladimir Putin announced the start of a special operation to protect Donbass on February 24. The head of state said that the operation was a response to requests for military assistance from the leaders of the DNR and LNR.
