HS will show Urpilainen’s appointment and line speech live, starting at 1 p.m.

Everyone’s the presidential candidates of other parliamentary parties have been known for a long time. Rkp has not nominated its own candidate at all.

Urpilainen’s candidacy has been virtually certain since August. However, he has not been able to start campaigning because of his work as a commissioner. Urpilainen has not been much involved in the election debates.

Running for office means that Urpilainen must remain on unpaid electoral leave from the commission. Urpilainen’s duties are in the care of another commissioner during the non-election period.

On Saturday, Urpilainen will start his campaigning at an event in Helsinki, which will also include the former prime minister Sanna Marin. Marin and Urpilainen discuss things like breaking glass ceilings and crisis leadership.

Sdp’s presidential candidate Jutta Urpilainen spoke at a public event in Tampere’s Hämeenpuisto on November 19.
