Any of us knows that not all people like poetry and they don’t like flies either, especially if one of them lands on the cookies that are supposed to be there to accompany the coffee: served with the purpose of stimulating the conversation of those present, in this case at a poetic-literary gathering held at 10 in the morning on an esplanade almost under the trees, to which I was invited to read some of my poems; Well, I must say that I write them wholesale and at the slightest provocation I am always ready to join this type of meeting. Well, I arrived at the meeting place on time and since I was the special guest —at least that’s what they said— I had the honor of taking a place at the presidium table and just before I started reading, a botfly with a greenish body and translucent wings and luminous brown eyes, he stopped on one chocolate-covered cookie and then went on to another and another—until he touched all the ones on the plate—and I don’t know why I got the impression that his presence was more captivating than the reading of my poems
