Minister of Secom published images of the disembarkation on social media; a meeting with the government cabinet will be held at 2 p.m.
The ministers Paulo Pimenta (Secom) and Waldez Góes (Regional Integration and Development) disembarked late this Saturday morning (May 4, 2024) at the Canoas air base, in Rio Grande do Sul. The objective is to monitor and continue the federal government’s support actions for municipalities affected by heavy rains in the State.
“We returned to RS, as determined by President Lula to continue the work for our State. Me and minister Waldez Góes We are 100% dedicated to Rio Grande do Sul. We will monitor the rescues, the creation of the federal government office in Porto Alegre, and provide everything necessary to quickly help those in need”, he wrote Pimenta on his official account on X (formerly Twitter).

There is an expectation that a new situation room meeting to monitor and update the federal government’s actions in relation to the floods in Rio Grande do Sul will be held at 2pm this Saturday (May 4), virtually.
FLOODS IN RIO GRANDE DO SUL
The number of people killed has risen to 56 due to the historic rains that have hit Rio Grande do Sul since Sunday (April 28, 2024). The data was updated at 9am and is in report card released this Saturday (May 4) by the State Civil Defense.

The federal government made rescue boats, trucks and backhoes available to clear the roads. Antennas will be sent to restore communication and internet. The Ministry of Justice authorized the arrival of 100 agents from the National Force to support operations in the state.
“There will be no budget limit so that we can provide the necessary support to build every house, every road, every bridge, every school, every health unit, returning dignity and working and safety conditions to our people”, said Pimenta.
