Lucía Alemany, the director of ‘La inocencia’, is now immersed in the filming of ‘Mari(dos)’, along with Paco León, Ernesto Alterio and Celia Freijeiro
The comedy ‘Mari(dos)’ is filming, the story of a woman with two husbands, directed by Lucía Alemany, the director of ‘La inocencia’ (2019), a story of adolescents with autobiographical overtones that was her first film in the feature film, which received critical acclaim, with two Goya Award nominations.
Starring Paco León and Ernesto Alterio as the husbands, and Celia Freijeiro as the wife, the cast also includes a fourth character played by Raúl Cimas. In addition, the main cast is completed by child actresses Lucía Gómez and Emma Hernández and the teenager Kirill Bunegin.
The film tells how Toni and Emilio (Paco León and Ernesto Alterio) receive the same tragic call: their wives are in a coma after an avalanche at a ski resort. When they show up at the admissions desk of the mountain hospital where they are admitted, they make a surprising discovery: their wives are actually the same person, Laura (Celia Freijeiro). For years, Laura has secretly led parallel lives, a wild roller coaster ride between her two families. Forced to live together until Laura wakes up and can be transferred, Emilio and Toni fight to prove who of the two is the only and true husband. The script is signed by Pablo Alén and Breixo Corral, who had previously created the scripts for ‘3 more weddings’ and ‘Anacleto, secret agent’, based on the character from Vázquez’s comics.
Lucía Alemany was born in 1985 in the small town of Traiguera, in the north of Valencia, where she lived until she was 18, when she went to Vic to study Audiovisual Communication. In 2009 she moved to Barcelona to specialize in film directing at ESCAC (Cinema and Audiovisual School of Catalonia).
‘Innocence’ premiered in the New Horizons section of the San Sebastián Film Festival, and in it he worked with actors such as Carmen Arrufat, Laia Marull and Sergi López. She had previously shot the short film ’14 years and a day’, ’69 Raons’, an educational program on sex and adolescents for À Punt Media, and an episode of the second season of the series ‘Perfect lives’, by Leticia Dolera . ‘Mari (two)’ is her second film.
The filming of this comedy, which began on February 21, will last several weeks in Pyrenean locations such as Candanchú, Panticosa, Fiscal, Lanuza, Portalet and Formigal, as well as in the Community of Madrid. Jose Incháustegui is the director of photography.
‘Mari(dos)’ is a production by Telecinco Cinema, Ciudadano Ciskul, Think Studio and Dos Husbands AIE, with the participation of Mediaset España, Movistar Plus+ and Mediterráneo Mediaset España Group. The film will hit theaters in Spain distributed by Buena Vista Internacional.
