This would not at all displease Franz Kafka and his absurd literature: everyone talks about Mario Draghi but Mario Draghi doesn’t speak to anyone, not a word about the Quirinale, not even in the bilateral affairs made in Chigi on the maneuver. And it must be understood: in Italy (and in some cases even abroad) there are not a few who would like to “nail him” to Palazzo Chigi for life, force him to carry the cross hostage to increasingly capricious parties who would like to keep everything for their delicious morsel: the Quirinale.
Thus the quotation marks that circulate widely in the media are never authentic but of the “rumors” that perhaps come out of his offices, from the staff of Minister Giorgetti, from the councilors of the Colle, from the wishes of the parties, who never, like this time, do not know what fish to catch. But this time Mario Draghi will start sending signals. One above all, as we anticipated above TPI in recent weeks: the country cannot afford early elections. A way to reassure peons of all types and levels and to make everyone understand that going up to the Colle does not necessarily mean going to vote the next day.
At present, there are three visible enemies that the former banker has to overcome: Europe, the Omicron and the snipers, who in the event would recommend fielding the super candidacy from the fourth vote.
On the eve of the big match on January 24, the playing field is in any case disastrous and in the stands the great voters are preparing for the match in the worst way: disunited, quarrelsome, angry.
There is no leader who can hold the reins of the situation. The center-right is still torn by the muscular confrontation between Salvini and Meloni, Letta who in fact decided to speak only with Conte, proves to be totally harmless and without strategy. In addition, the ghost of Silvio Berlusconi hovers, which could characterize the first three votes in a crescendo and in any case conquer the role of king maker on the field from the fourth. Because his real plan B is to negotiate for himself a position as a senator for life that redeems him from the many challenges he has suffered. It would be easy with Giuliano Amato at the Quirinale. More complicated with Mario Draghi.
Silvio Berlusconi, however, is the nightmare of the dem secretary who, well aware that he can only be the wingman of Mario Draghi, has also begun to put around some lures for the center-right, in order to discourage convergence on the leader of Forza Italia. The baits in question are the president of the Senate Casellati and the former mayor of Milan, Letizia Moratti.
At the same time, Letta also sent an unequivocal signal of his agreement with Giorgia Meloni on the Draghi match at the Quirinale, early elections in May. As it happens yesterday the Zan bill was “resurrected” from the Nazarene, which for the secretary of the Democratic Party will be a perfect tool for any election campaign.
