Interlagos remains in F1: five-year renewal
F1 will remain in Interlagos for the next five years: the organizers and the Circus have just formalized the agreement which will see the San Paolo track present on the calendar until 2030.
The announcement
The Grand Prix contract extension follows recent investments by the administration of São Paulo Mayor Ricardo Nunes, with the aim of transforming the Interlagos circuit into a facility suitable for hosting larger entertainment events, including music concerts. This is the Circus’ announcement on its social channels.

Domenicali’s words
“I am happy to announce that we will remain in Interlagos until 2030 and I can’t wait to experience for more years the wonderful atmosphere that Brazilian fans can offer“, declared F1 president Stefano Sundays. “Brazil has a rich racing heritage and this iconic circuit is a favorite with drivers and fans around the world. It embodies everything that is great about racing, we can’t wait to see how it develops in the years to come to create an even better experience“.
The Interlagos circuit, officially known as Autodromo Jose Carlos Pace, has been present in the Formula 1 calendar for 50 years: the first edition was held in 1973, and the winner was home idol Emerson Fittipaldi. It is one of the most iconic circuits in the world, with 15 curves spread over 4.3 km and an anti-clockwise layout. It has been the scene of some of the most memorable moments in Formula 1 history, including Ayrton Senna’s victory in 1991, Michael Schumacher’s sensational last race for Ferrari in 2006, the championship battles of 2007 and 2008 and the battle between Max Verstappen and Lewis Hamilton in 2021.
