Russia suffered heavy losses in the Ukraine war. A TV expert is now calling for the establishment of a “nuclear planning center”.
Moscow – A host of the Russian state television has Wladimir Putin on Thursday (September 15) on plans for a nuclear attack against the Nato asked. In a sequence tweeted by BBC presenter Francis Scarr, Russian TV expert Igor Korochenko spoke on state television Channel 1 of a growing threat to Russia through NATO.
The Russian state is subject to “nuclear blackmail” because the US has deployed tactical nuclear weapons at a number of NATO air bases. The aim is to “hit Russian territory”.
Ukraine war: TV expert calls on Putin to exercise nuclear weapons
Russia must defend itself against this mission. Apparently, the time has come for Russia to “hold drills using Russian tactical nuclear weapons.” Preparations need to be made so that in the event of a NATO nuclear attack, “you don’t have to run around and think like we do should react,” said TV expert Korotschenko.
To this end, he proposed a separate nuclear planning center in the Russian Security Council. This should draw up emergency plans and procedures for emergencies. In addition, Russia would have to consider “which critical NATO infrastructure facilities, which units and headquarters could be the targets of a Russian nuclear attack”. Korotschenko added that these considerations are necessary because one can expect a “nuclear ultimatum from NATO” soon.
Maria Zakharova, spokeswoman for Russia’s Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov, recently also threatened the use of nuclear weapons. With the large arms shipments United States to the Ukraine a “red line” had been crossed. “We reserve the right to defend our territory,” Zakharova said. In the event of a counterattack, one is forced to “react appropriately”. However, experts consider a nuclear strike to be unlikely – at least for the time being.
Russia in distress? Politicians threaten with nuclear weapons
Korochenko and Zakharova’s comments come as Ukrainian forces are increasingly regaining control of Russian-held territories. A UK Defense Ministry report on Thursday (15 September) said: “Ukrainian forces continue to consolidate their control over the newly liberated areas of Kharkiv Oblast. Russian forces have largely withdrawn from the area west of the Oskil River.”
Since the Ukraine war started playing Russia with its role as a nuclear power. Again and again there are ambiguous statements and threats. Regarding the recapture of Crimea, Russia’s former President Medvedev threatened “doomsday”. Russia’s threats are often dismissed as empty words. John Bolton, former United States National Security Advisor donald trump, but believes a nuclear war with Russia is more likely than ever. (ah)
