Rosneft considers Germany’s decision to transfer German assets under the control of the authorities illegal and violates the principles of a market economy. This was announced on Friday, September 16, in press service companies.
“This decision is illegal and, in fact, is an expropriation of shareholding as a result of a situation deliberately created by the relevant EU sanctions and the actions of German and Polish regulators, the purpose of which was to seize assets,” the release says.
According to Rosneft, the company complied with all the requirements of German regulators, which they themselves have repeatedly recognized, ensuring the supply of fuel to consumers.
In this regard, the transfer of assets under the control of the country, the company says, has become “a violation of all the fundamental principles of a market economy and the civilizational foundations of a modern society built on the principle of inviolability of private property.”
The company’s management does not rule out that it may go to court, as it believes that the decision of the German government, in fact, means for it an irretrievable loss of assets.
Rosneft will work on all possible measures to protect shareholders, including going to court,” the press service said.
On September 16, it became known that the German government transferred Rosneft Deutschland and die RN Refining & Marketing GmbH under the control of the German Federal Network Agency. Thus, the agency will now have its stakes in three refineries: PCK Schwedt, MiRo and Bayernoil.
Earlier, on April 1, Russian presidential spokesman Dmitry Peskov said that the German plan to nationalize subsidiaries of Gazprom and Rosneft is a serious violation of international law. According to him, currently there is a massive line on the “gangster weaning” of the legal property of the Russian Federation. At the same time, he immediately ruled out linking this situation with the decision to sell Russian gas to unfriendly countries for rubles.
