An incredible modification to turn an old Game Boy Advance into the Switch.
The world of modding is always in full swing, also thanks to 3D printers capable of recreating brand new bodies and with the necessary changes for any implementations, such as audio jacks or HDMI ports in case the hardware does not have one. One of the most modified consoles is certainly the Game Boy Advance, with Macho Nacho Productions which over time has brought the laptop closer to modernity.
There have been many additions, such as a larger battery, wireless charging, a headphone jack and Bluetooth support but now the Game Boy Advance will take another leap forward. It is now possible to connect the GBA to the TV or in any case to a larger screen also thanks to a custom dock, to which a PCB and Raspberry Pi Zero are added to be able to connect the Joy-Con of Nintendo Switch without problems. These can also be inserted on the new tracks of the body, becoming in all respects a GBA-Switch.
Unfortunately but as you might imagine, it’s not quite all ergonomic. In this configuration the Advance no longer fits in your pocket but above all the wireless association of the Joy-Con is a long process that involves connecting the Raspberry Pi to a computer with the execution of customized code. In short, this alternative to the service Nintendo Switch Online for retro gaming it’s not that convenient.
