Carolina Panthers fire head coach Matt Rhule
Charlotte The Carolina Panthers have parted ways with head coach Matt Rhule. The 47-year-old had only won eleven of his 38 games.
In the NFL there is the first coaching dismissal after the fifth game day: The Carolina Panthers separate from Matt Rhule, the franchise from Charlotte (North Carolina) announced on Monday. The Panthers are on one win and four losses after Sunday’s 15-37 loss to the San Francisco 49ers.
Rhule was signed by Baylor, a college, in 2020 and won 11 games in 27 losses during his time. “He’d usually flipped his collegiate teams at Temple and Baylor in his third season, but that jump was a hitNot here yet,” the Panthers wrote in their statement.
53-year-old Steve Wilks will take over as head coach on an interim basis. Wilks was previously an assistant coach at Rhule, but also has a year’s experience as the Arizo head coachWell Cardinals.
Coach changes are not common in the NFL in the current season, they are usually only carried out if there are serious reasons for it. In most cases, teams only part with their coaches after the season.
