Newey, farewell after 18 years at Red Bull
For a few days now the news has been official end of the relationship between Adrian Newey and Red Bullwith the Technical Director of the Milton Keynes company who will leave the Anglo-Austrian team in the first quarter of 2025. This will conclude an experience that the British designer began in 2006, with the illustrious career of the aerodynamic genius that seems now aimed at opening a new chapter in Ferrari after the world titles won with Williams, McLaren and Red Bull itself.
Future in red?
A hypothesis that can be understood from Newey’s own words in his farewell statement, in which he specified that he wanted to leave the baton to undertake a new challenge. However, beyond the negotiations started with the Prancing Horse, it was clear that Newey’s stay at Red Bull was increasingly in doubt, especially due to the now broken relations between him and the Team Principal Christian Horner. Yet, according to the 1997 world champion Jacques Villeneuvethe first internal tensions would have arisen well before the internal struggles between Horner and the rest of the team.
The origin of the problems
For the former Canadian driver (who won his title with the Williams FW19 designed by Newey), real problems would have arisen after the death of Dietrich Mateschitzfounder of Red Bull: “He was the person who kept everyone in their placeand following his disappearance internal struggles arose – he explained to Crypto Casino LTD – It’s understandable that he’s leaving Red Bull. There are too many things that have nothing to do with racing. There is someone who is adding fuel to the fireand the fact that they are winning is not enough.”
“Newey has the right people around him, he is a good team leader and works well with the drivers. He’s a visionary, you can win even without him, so it’s not the answer to everything, but it is better to have it than not to have it, because it was the best for so many years. Dietrich held the helm and kept everyone in their place. At Red Bull the pyramid no longer exists, and then internal struggles began in which even people who should be on the outside are involved, which is strange. Now there are more than two parties pulling the strings, and the situation has become too personal. People find problems even when things are going well. This is why it is very difficult to have dominion for a long time.”
