Parents who prefer that their children continue to wear face coverings are free to do so.
Likewise, the mayor of New York, Eric Adams, assured that due to the drop in the number of infections they also hope to eliminate the vaccination passport requirement for spaces such as restaurants, gyms, among others.
“Provided our indicators show a low level of risk and we see no surprises this week, on Monday, March 7, we will also remove vaccination passport requirements at indoor dining, exercise, and entertainment venues,” Adams said, noting that During this week, business owners will be able to adapt to accept the new measures.
New York City’s #COVID numbers continue to go down.
So long as our indicators show a low level of risk and we see no surprises this week, on Monday, March 7 we will also remove the vaccination requirements for Key2NYC — meaning indoor dining, fitness and entertainment venues.

The decision was also announced after last Friday the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) released its new guide to determine prevention measures for covid-19.
My friends, the day has come. Today we are announcing that we will eliminate the state requirement for masks in schools.
According to these new guidelines, 70% of the population can stop using it. 28% of the population is still in counties with high levels of the pandemic.

Residents in low- and medium-risk counties no longer need to wear masks in public places, according to the CDC.
“My friends, the day has come. Today we are announcing that we will eliminate the state requirement for masks in schools.s,” Hochul told a news conference.
He noted with satisfaction that COVID infections statewide have dropped from a peak of more than 90,000 in early January to 1,671 positive cases out of a population of nearly 20 million New Yorkers.

He also highlighted that the figures have had a downward trend for 57 days.
Likewise, the Democratic policy noted that there are still some counties in the state with high transmission of the virus, so they will be allowed to determine what is best for their county.
He emphasized that the mask requirement still remains in place for nursing homes, prisons, adult care facilities, homeless and gender-based violence shelters, and public transportation.

Hochul expressed confidence that New York City, where the mayor has control of the public education system – the largest in the country – will welcome this decision. But, she reminded that the decision is in the hands of Mayor Eric Adams.
