The Cartagena naval factory will house two of the eight new eight centers of excellence that Navantia will launch to “optimize and catalyze the potential of our technological and human capital and offer added value,” as announced yesterday by the president of the company, Ricardo Domínguez , during a presentation at the Feindef military equipment and technology fair, in Madrid.
One of them will be that of Intelligent Services and the other, that of Hydrogen Technologies. The first will promote research by applying methodologies, solutions and technologies to accelerate the innovation of differentiated services that will provide a comparative advantage of Navantia’s offer.
The second will be dedicated to promoting research, innovation and the development of clean propulsive solutions for the naval sector based on green hydrogen and other derived clean energies. “This center will train and position Navantia in the hydrogen value chain business and will constitute a technological pole that will attract talent and innovation and will act as a tractor of national technology using a network operating model,” the company indicated.
The other centers of excellence will be located in the work centers of Ferrol (Digital Twin and Offshore Wind Energy), Madrid (Smart Ships), San Fernando (Naval Systems) and Puerto Real (Additive Manufacturing Center and Green Energies and Circular Economy) .
Navantia wants to make these centers a point of reference for knowledge in skills related to digital transformation.
