The Minister of Citizenship, João Roma, said today (22) that the name of the Auxílio Brasil program, which started to be paid 17% to replace Bolsa Família, has changed because the product is different, it is not just a “packaging change ”. “The concept changes, it changes all the tools that are interconnected in order to be able to increasingly offer citizens the partnership of the Brazilian State so that they can go further, so that they can gain greater prominence in society. Auxílio Brasil interconnects public policies, arrives strengthened, reaches all those who were beneficiaries of Bolsa Família and goes beyond. By December, we want to clear the queue to benefit 17 million families, which today are 14.5 million families [beneficiadas]”, he said.
Roma was interviewed on Monday on the program no censorship gives TV Brazil and, in addition to providing more details about Auxílio Brasil, he also spoke about other topics such as the processing of the Proposed Amendment to the Constitution of Precatório in the Senate (which, if approved, will guarantee a benefit of R$ 400 to families assisted by Auxílio Brasil in 20220) and on the Brasil Fraterno program.
Auxílio Brasil links nine benefits and increasingly seeks to link public policies. “What motivates Auxílio Brasil is to be able to ensure that, through the social program, these families are able to achieve a better quality of life and change the reality in which they find themselves, so that the program is not exclusively a stabilization, a compensation from the State for that situation, but that it presents tools for each of these to overcome their limitations”, he said.
As an example of both this condition for overcoming the reality of the beneficiaries and the difference in relation to Bolsa Família, Rome cited the example of a person who was hired as a driver with a formal contract. At Bolsa Família, according to the minister, this person lost the benefit.
“So it generated a huge division in our society, with people often saying, ‘Oh, these people don’t want to work, they just want to stay at Bolsa Famila’, where the person actually had the social program as a guarantee. In the new Auxílio Brasil, what we are offering is support for that person who gets a job opportunity, who manages to sign their work card, they will still have an allowance on top, they will have another benefit of R$ 200, and with this guarantees that if she loses her job, she is returning to the benefit without going back to the queue again”, he said.
