The Tour de France will return to its 22-team format in its edition this year, which will begin on July 1 in Copenhagen, after the 23 he admitted in 2021, this time with the confirmation of Arkea-Samsic, by Nairo Quintana, as the key cast.
The organization of the French cycling round disclosed this Friday the 22 teams that will participate, among which are 18 “World Teams”, such as the Spanish Movistar, Bora, Bahrain, Ineos or Jumbo, and four “Pro Teams”.

Among the latter are the first two classified on the UCI Pro Teams list, the Belgian Alpecin and the French Arkea-Sasmic. In addition, today it was learned that the organization invited two other French teams from the category, B&B Hotels and TotalEnergies.
Quintana’s goals
This will mean that there will be six French teams, since the participation of AG2R, Cofidis and Groupama, from the highest category, was already known.
Last year, the Tour had 23 squads thanks to the fact that the International Cycling Union (UCI) allowed a maximum of 184 cyclists to take part in the main events, compared to the 176 authorized until then.
It will be the ninth time that Nairo Quintana faces the challenge of the Tour, a race to which he said he will go for the general.
The rider from Boyacá faces this year his tenth season in Europe and in the Tour has been second twice, 2013 and 2015, and third once, 2016.
