About endurance runners Paavo from Nurme and From Ville Ritola let’s make a movie called Champion and challenger. Shooting of the sports film will start this fall in Turku.
The film is directed by Aleksi Salmenperäwho co-wrote the script Juha Karvanen with. Salmenperä’s previous guidance includes, among others Man’s work, Giant and Vacuum.
“I love the characters in the film who put all their honor and passion on the line for something as primitive as running,” Salmenperä says in the announcement.
Two successful endurance runners of the 1920s come together in a story whose friction arises from constant competition.
Plays the role of Paavo Nurme (1897—1973). Olli Riipinenwho has previously played important roles in theatre, such as the National Theatre Juliet and Romeo in the male lead role in 2018.
Ville Ritolaa (1896—1982) plays the role Miro Lopperiwhich is known among other things Adultsas the Pesso character from the series. Lopper is also seen in a significant role Jani Volanen in the future Munkkivuoriin the series.
