Lotta Hintsa’s climbing trip in Nepal took a nasty turn.
Mountaineer Lotta Hintsan a climbing trip to Himlung in Nepal was interrupted right from the start due to a concussion. Hintsa tells Sanoma in a Whatsapp message that he hit his head after tripping and falling on the downward bridge on the way to the base camp.
“This will remain the shortest expedition of my life [kiipeilyretkeksi]”, Hintsa reports from the hospital in Kathmandu.
“I hit my head on the bridge. It got a bit blurry, but I quickly realized that the forehead is really open and the head can be thrown.”
Hintsa immediately received treatment on the spot, including a pressure bandage on his head, and was able to walk the 13 kilometers back to a village called Chame, where he got to a small hospital, where the wound was cleaned and a few stitches were applied.
“A concussion was diagnosed,” says Hintsa.
Sunday Hintsa spent the previous night in the village hospital. On Sunday morning, he waited about four hours for the helicopter flight, because the weather conditions were bad. In the end, Hintsa was flown to Kathmandu for more detailed investigations.
“CT scans have been taken here [tietokonetomografia] and cleaned and quilted the wound properly. Due to the concussion, they are still under observation for the night.”
Hintsa had to climb the Swede Jenni Jalonen with 7 for the 126-meter Himlung, where they had “one project in mind”, as Hintsa puts it. Jalonen, the cameraman and the German group continued towards Himlung when Hintsa had gotten into the helicopter.
Earlier, Hintsa talked about her Achilles tendon problem, which has since eased. The trouble came in connection with the Amazing Race Suomi race. He had to leave the competition between his partner and his sister Eleonora Hintsan with.
Nelonen and Ruutu, who show Amazing Race Finland, belong to the same Sanoma group as Helsingin Sanomat.
