There is a rather important news regarding the MotoGP races that should be declared terminated prematurely after a stop.
From this year the final ranking on which to base will be composed of two rankings defined as ‘partial’.
When the event is interrupted by the display of the red flag, all those who have already crossed the finish line after the leader in the current lap will be taken into account.
For those who have not yet done so, or find themselves one lap away from those in the lead, they will look at the position they occupied in the previous lap when this happened.
From here you will have the two aforementioned rankings, which will then be combined to form the definitive one.
This is what the Grand Prix Commission – made up of Carmelo Ezpeleta (Dorna), Paul Duparc (FIM), Hervé Poncharal (IRTA) and Biense Bierma (MSMA) – decided, replacing the previous method that provided for the validity of the ranking per lap. preceding the interruption, ie the one in which all the competitors had managed to cross the finish line.
