The Lusail circuit seemed to be a Ducati fiefdom, while the Qatar Grand Prix saw a Desmosedici triumph, but not that of the official team, certainly the most awaited and favorite. Pecco Bagnaia and Jack Miller have collected a double zero that leads them to have to seek redemption in Indonesia, where the second race of the 2022 MotoGP season is scheduled this weekend.
The year therefore did not start in the best way for the two official standard-bearers, with Miller stopped by an electronics problem and Bagnaia the author of an error that saw him fall and also involve the innocent Jorge Martin. A start to 2022 that is anything but explosive for the official team, which will have to reverse the course in Mandalika and start again from Indonesia to demonstrate the true potential of GP22.
The new born at Ducati seems to have suffered several problems during the Qatar GP, while in the winter tests it was defined as the bike to beat. However, beyond the result obtained, there is optimism in view of the Indonesian Grand Prix. Bagnaia is determined to return to the front and restart his world championship from Mandalika: “I’m very happy to race in Lombok: the place is beautiful and there are so many fans who can’t wait to see us compete. I like the Mandalika track and during the February test I had positive sensations ”.
“I hope that the grip conditions have improved thanks to the new asphalt”, comments Pecco in reference to the work in Mandalika after the drivers’ complaints. “But in general I think it is a track that favors the characteristics of our bike. Compared to the first weekend in Qatar, I will try to work more on my driving style starting from the first sessions, in order to find the right feeling with the Desmosedici GP immediately. I am very determined and confident of being able to do well this weekend ”.
Jack Miller is also eager to get on the bike. His Sunday ended early due to an electronics problem: “I’m happy to be back on track this weekend and finally be able to leave the Qatar race behind. The season has certainly not started as we hoped, but in Losail we were in a good position and if we hadn’t had a technical problem we would have certainly been able to aim for a good result. I therefore hope to be able to continue in the same direction and take other steps forward to be able to redeem myself on Sunday. I am ready to face any condition with the aim of obtaining a good result ”.
