In February 2022, Moscow doctors conducted 600,000 telemedicine consultations. Such a service was introduced in February and is now available in all polyclinics of the capital; 380,000 people have already used it, according to the website. mos.ru.
According to the deputy mayor of the city for social development Anastasia Rakova, telemedicine consultations are available to citizens with SARS and confirmed COVID-19, who can be treated at home. This practice avoids overloading the outpatient department and provides citizens with the necessary medical care.
“Also, through telemedicine, we closed sick leave without an additional visit to the reception. A telemedicine consultation is an online appointment with a doctor. During it, the same thing happens as at the reception, but remotely: the doctor assesses the patient’s condition, gives recommendations for treatment and answers questions. <...> In the future, we plan to expand the scope of telemedicine,” Rakova added.
You can get a telemedicine consultation through the EMIAS.Telemedicine application. To access the service, you need a username and password, which the patient receives via SMS in case of confirmation of the diagnosis of SARS or COVID-19 immediately after a visit to the clinic or an initial audio consultation with a doctor.
At the end of July, Russian President Vladimir Putin spoke about the prospects for the development of telemedicine at the Strong Ideas for a New Time forum. He assured that this type of assistance in the country will develop, noting that this is the area in which it is important not to harm.
