Jindal energy bill of 5 million euros, layoffs at the gates
Jindal went from 400,000 euros a month to 5,100,000 euros due to expensive energy. The Cobas union on Thursday held a meeting of members Jindal and Tde to discuss the opening of the redundancy procedure for the workers of the Brindisi plant in Jindal by the company. Cobas “denounces the terrible situation in which the workers of the Jindal plant in Brindisi are being found, which has 244 direct employees and almost 100 employees including those of Tde, following the increases in gas that led to the bill of the company for the Brindisi plant from 400 thousand euros per month to 5,100,000 euros over the nine months of 2022 “.
“The gas used by the company to carry out production operations has increased 10 times and forced the company to open the path of layoffs, waiting to find solutions that reduce the cost of bills. The forecasts regarding the gas bills speak of a further increase of 70%, that of electricity by 59% “, inform Cobas. “The cost of utility bills is therefore starting to claim victims among factory workers, in commercial activities, in the homes of citizens with an increasingly worse prospect. The new government must effectively address this situation with energetic economic means and a push for peace in Ukraine and in many other places. Otherwise, the crisis for the Jindal plant in Brindisi, as well as for many others in Italy, will last long over time to lead to its permanent closure, despite having received substantial funding from the Puglia Region for productive and employment consolidation “.
