Morocco, Ryan in the well like little Alfredino Rampi. Fight against time to save him
Ryan5, went to play in the fields on Tuesday afternoon, in the rural area near the Moroccan town of Chefchauen, in the hamlet of Tamrout, as was his custom to do. His father kept an eye on him while he played, but suddenly he didn’t see him again. Then the discovery: he had fallen in a 32-meter well.
A story that recalls the story of the little one Alfredino Rampi, that on 10 June 1981, he fell into an artesian well near Fiumicino and that brings back to those days in June, on the outskirts of Rome, with the first great live TV that kept President Pertini’s Italy awake. Now she is racing against time to save Ryan.
The child was swallowed by the now drained well that his father, a farmer, had covered with wood and plastic. A flight of 32 meters between narrow walls twenty centimeters that somehow slowed the crash. Then the intervention of the neighbors, in a short time the whole village was mobilized, convinced that they could do it alone.
Several volunteers who are applying in the recovery operations. The first is Hamid which, just like theAngelo Licheri of Vermicino, he lowered himself with his bare hands to try to rescue the child. Meanwhile Ryan was talking, asking about his mother. The solidarity of the whole of Morocco has tightened around the well and that anxious family.
Cameras and onlookers also arrived with the bulldozers and the Civil Protection. After all attempts to recover, even those of two professional speleologists, the rescuers decided to dig next to the well to then create a connecting tunnel and reach the child.
Imad Fahmi, of the rescue team, is the one who came closest, descending up to 25 meters. He heard him breathe and cry, but he couldn’t get any further. In the meantime, we dig non-stop, night and day. The child would be in fairly good health.
From the images that the rescuers’ cameras were able to take, Ryan could be seen crouched in the mud. An emotional wave overwhelms the web. After two days and nights of non-stop work, 48 hours after Ryan’s fall, it opened a glimmer of optimism.
“We are over 22 meters deep, we should make it in the next few hours“said the team leader. The ambulance on the spot, the helicopter not far away. In the late evening the bulldozers are stopped, the underground tunnel is being dug and Ryan is a breath away from the light.
