A few hours ago the hiring of the short stop was announced Trevor Story for the Boston Red Sox by 6 years and 140 million dollarsso doubts began to arise, what position would he occupy in his new team in the MLB.
This happens because the shortstop position has been covered for 8 years by the native of Aruba, Xander Bogaertswhile third base is occupied by Raphael Raphael Devers since 2017.
Therefore, second base, occupied since 2020 by Christian Arroyo, would be the ideal option for Story in Boston’s defensive scheme.

Alex Cora confirms it
The manager of the Red Sox, Alex Cora, in statements compiled by ESPN journalist Enrique Rojas, hinted that Story could occupy the second base of the team, once his hiring is made official.
“We keep trying to find ways to improve. If the season starts today or tomorrow, Christian Arroyo plays second, Xander plays shortstop, and Rafi (Devers) third. If by chance something happens, and we have the opportunity to be opportunistic, and add a hitter in the infield, well, Xander is going to play shortstop, little face is going to play third (Devers), and from there we adjust.

His words made it clear that their starters, Bogaerts and Devers, are not moving from shortstop and third base, respectively, so Story could take second base instead of Christian Arroyo.
