“We will collaborate with the authorities, in whom we place full trust, confident that our absolute good faith will emerge”, reads the statement issued by Balocco after the news of the registration of Alessandra Balocco, CEO of the confectionery company, in the register of suspects. The case of the “Pink Christmas” pandoro has also overwhelmed the Piedmontese company, which has always been one of the cornerstones of the Made in Italy food industry with hundreds of employees.
Chiara Ferragni and Alessandra Balocco, president and CEO of Balocco, are under investigation for aggravated fraud for the pandoro-gate. And yesterday evening the confectionery company broke the silence with an official note, commenting on the news of the registration in the register of suspects after the Christmas 2022 charity mess, with the Ferragni-branded pandoro with the proceeds going to charity.
“We are deeply sorry that the initiative has been misunderstood by many: we will collaborate with the authorities – in whom we place full trust – certain that our absolute good faith will emerge, and we will continue to commit ourselves to creating quality products to offer to consumers in Italy and around the world, also to protect those linked to the company, starting with the families of those who work with us. And we will continue to do good, as we have been doing for some time, putting our values even more strongly at the center of all our projects”, reads the note.
“Balocco is a company led by the same family for almost 100 years, used to letting its products do the talking; sobriety is part of the family's style, inclined to work but reserved, little exposed to the media. Recent events – in particular today's developments (January 8, ed.) – have deeply disturbed us, also thinking about the values that guide us and the ethics that have always distinguished us. For over a year, and especially in recent weeks, numerous incorrect information has been reported, including the result of lack of knowledge, incorrect interpretation of the facts, and in some cases exploitation”, the note continues.
