Minerva informs that it has completed the acquisition of two slaughterhouses specializing in sheep: Shark Lake and Great Eastern Abattoir, located on the west coast of Australia, as announced in August. Slaughter operations are expected to start during the month of December.
The investments were made through a Joint Venture between Minerva Foods and SALIC, in which Minerva Foods holds a 65% interest, while SALIC holds the remaining 35%. When fully operational, the plants may reach a slaughter capacity of 1 million heads/year, according to the statement released on Thursday, 2.
“The acquisitions are in line with the company’s geographic diversification strategy, increasingly mitigating risks and strengthening our strategy of consolidation in the animal protein export market, always in line with our commitment to financial discipline,” says the company through the document.
