Millonarios vindicated itself with its fans and with football, with a very good presentation against the bottom of the table, Envigado, which was now very committed to the relegation zone after losing 3-0 this Saturday at the El Campín stadium.
According to the criteria of
Alberto Gamero gave the starting lineup a shake-up and it turned out very well. The team recovered many things in terms of play and forcefulness, with the exception of the weakness of the rival, who also erred on the side of innocence.
Gamero shook the board and surprised with a formation in which an 18-year-old winger, Carlos Sarabia, made his debut, who had a very good debut, especially when going on the attack.
In addition, he managed the middle of the field by bringing together, in the same lineup, David Mackalister Silva, Juan José Ramírez and Daniel Mantilla; the latter two, starters for the first time since their arrival in Bogotá.
Millonarios found the goal and peace of mind very quickly
As has become customary, in the first minutes Millonarios was overwhelming from the start, with the difference, compared to their most recent performance against Jaguares, that this time the goal did come, and relatively quickly.
Silva, who had been criticized in previous games, played comfortably and well. And he himself generated the first goal, in the 22nd minute, by overflowing from the left and touching the center, where Mantilla, falling, put it with his chest.
The difference could have been wider in the first half, but the team lacked some aim. And then, in the second stage, Envigado became emboldened and wanted to play as equals. The first 15 were even.
Gamero refreshed the team and made three changes, hand in hand: Santiago Giordana for Castro, Jhon Córdoba for Mantilla and Neiser Villarreal for Kevin Palacios. Everyone who entered did so with great prominence.
The new face of Millonarios with the changes
The second blue goal reminded us of the best stages of the game of the Gamero era, in the 77th minute. The ball passed from foot to foot, cleanly and with progression, until it reached the edge of the area, where Córdoba left Mackalister facing the goal to score his 50th goal with Millonarios in the League and remain two behind the top scorer at that stage, Fernando Uribe.
One more was missing, with two of the emerging players who entered with a starring role: an overflow by Villarreal and a touch in the Córdoba small area to seal the game and leave everything in a rout.
It was a quiet game for Millonarios, who made an important jump in the table, reaching fifth place, with 18 units. Now he is getting ready for his debut in the alternate tournament, the BetPlay Cup, where he will play on Tuesday the first leg of the round of 16 against the League champion, Atlético Bucaramanga. For now, the blue fans enjoyed a great night.
