The U.S. ships are the USS Gunston Hall, a 190-meter landing ship, and the 155-meter USS Gravely, an Arleigh Burke-class missile fighter.

Ships arriving on Friday will visit Helsinki on Monday, Navy says. According to the U.S. Navy, the ships are in the Baltic Sea as part of the country’s more visible presence in the region, which is a response to Russia’s war of aggression in Ukraine.

Both the USS Kearsarge and the even bigger landing support vessel have now been in the Baltic Sea for a couple of weeks and participated in various exercises, in which the Finnish Navy has also been involved.

Samoina the French frigate Latouche-Tréville can be seen in the port of Hernesaari. The German frigate FGS Sachsen, which arrived earlier on Wednesday, was also in the same place, training in the Gulf of Finland from the beginning of the week.

FGS Sachsen is open to the public on Sundays from 1 pm to 5 pm. The public has no access to other ships.
