During a visit to Israel, the president of Argentina, Javier Milei, criticized the country's deputies this Wednesday (7) for returning to square one of the so-called Ómnibus Law, a measure announced the day before.
“Yesterday, in the session of the Chamber of Deputies, the political caste, as we call that group of delinquents who want a worse Argentina because they are not willing to give up their privileges, began to dismantle our Law of Bases and Starting Points for Freedom from Argentines, to be able to support the different mechanisms through which they steal from Argentines and in this sense I gave the order to lift the project”, said Milei, according to information from the Clarín newspaper.
The Law of Bases and Starting Points for the Freedom of Argentines, better known as the Ómnibus Law, which was presented as part of a Decree of Necessity and Urgency (DNU) in December, proposes to deregulate the country's economy and has generated protests from the left, in court and through protests.
The project was approved last week, however, without several items from the initial proposal. On Tuesday (6), the Chamber of Deputies decided to return the bill to the house committees, returning it to its starting point.
“Both the DNU and the law are instruments that promote the return of freedom to individuals, promote and enhance market structures, they are pro-market reforms. And, at the same time, they eliminate many shady and corrupt businesses from politics. And this means that opposition to these instruments leaves them on the side of the thieves, scammers, liars and corrupt people who sank Argentina”, said Milei this Wednesday.
