A group of some 400 migrants left at 5:00 a.m. (11:00 GMT) from Tapachula, on the border between Mexico and Guatemala, heading for Tapanatepec, in the neighboring state of Oaxaca, to obtain the Multiple Migratory Form (FMM), with which is added to two caravans with people from about 10 countries that have been advancing for days.
The migrants affirm that they are leaving because the National Migration Institute (INM) has not responded to their demands to issue documents.
The new contingent took the Miguel Hidalgo de Tapachula central park as a point of concentration and departure, from where they hope to walk some 300 kilometers.
Several National Guard contingents and vehicles are behind this group of people who are walking peacefully along the Tapachula – Tapanatepec highway.
People from Ecuador, Venezuela, Nicaragua, Honduras, the Dominican Republic and even China and the Middle East travel in this contingent.

Garufa, from Ecuador, affirmed that the INM only grants them a permit to stay for 10 days.
“However, our destiny is to be able to reach the United States, but the authorities detained 100 Ecuadorian migrants in the morning and at night they released us and we began the journey along this highway,” he said.

The migrants announced that they will walk as far as the authorities allow them, under conditions of heavy rain and sun, although people carrying children ask them to donate water because the road is long and they are not accompanied by any international organization.
Charli da Silva, a migrant from Venezuela, assured that her reason for traveling through these caravans is to get to the United States to have a little peace, freedom and get a better job.
“The United States gives us security that other countries are not granting, especially in terms of immigration and having a stable job,” he asserted.

The migrants of the new caravan indicated that their goal is to catch up with the group that left last Wednesday and is already traveling through Mapastepec to unite and advance together and be able to obtain permission for all, according to Juan Carlos, a migrant from Honduras.
The caravans reflect a record migratory flow to the United States, whose Customs and Border Protection (CBP) has intercepted more than 1.7 million people so far in fiscal year 2022, which began last October. .
In addition, Mexico received a record of more than 58,000 refugee applications in the first half of 2022, an annual increase of almost 15%, according to the Mexican Commission for Refugee Assistance (Comar).
