As reported by Persona Central, the game appeared at the 39th position on the “Most Played Games” list drawn up by Japanese Xbox Store pagebetween the MMO Blue Protocol and the fighting game Tekken 8.
An error, but with a kernel of truth?
Clearly this is an error, given that, as already mentioned at the beginning, Metaphor: ReFantazio is not yet available in physical and digital stores, with the debut set for an unspecified period of 2024 on PS5, PS4, Xbox Series
However, as PersonaCentral points out, the new Atlus JRPG could have ended up in the ranking of the most played thanks to some possible private playtests on Xbox of a pre-release build of the game. From this perspective, and considering the very limited diffusion of the green and cross consoles in Japan, it would be a plausible theory, although to be taken with a pinch of salt.
