Meta, the parent company of Facebook, Instagram and the ex-Oculus, has revealed that it is running some tests with Horizon Worlds related to the possibility of sale of digital items created by users. It also revealed how much a user earns from the sale.
The whole thing is happening “with a handful of creators who can sell virtual items and effects within their worlds. For example, someone could create and sell accessories for a fashion world or offer paid access to a new part of a world. ”That’s what a blog post from Meta said.
For what concern payment systema spokesperson for Meta said that “purchases that people make in their worlds are subject to any fees related to the hardware platform, and to a Horizon Worlds fee that is 25 percent of what is left over. For example, if a creator sells an item for $ 1.00, then the Meta Quest Store fee would be $ 0.30 and the Horizon platform fee would be $ 0.17, leaving $ 0.53 for the creator before any applicable fees. ”
Horizon Worlds content creators who are part of the test will have access to a dedicated section with the creation of resalable items feature. Meta is also testing a program known as the “Horizon Worlds Creator Bonus” which includes “monthly goal programs where creators are paid, at the end of the month, based on their progress toward the goal.”
Always talking about VR, PlayStation VR 2 has been postponed to 2023 for an expert.
